Téma uměleckých prací Jany Peterkové by se dalo obecně charakterizovat jako průzkum možností čistého přítomného vjemu skutečnosti. Nesou v sobě výraz duševních stavů spjatých s vertikalitou osudových prožitků i horizontalitou každodenního plynutí.
Zda to budou kruhy, čtverce, sítě.

The theme of Jana Peterková’s artworks could be generally characterized as exploring the possibilities of pure present perception of reality. Her works of art bear the expression of mental states related both to the verticality of critical life experiences and the horizontality of everyday passing of time, while the way of rendering their content can vary a lot. Jana Peterková reflects the mental space of being through the presence of human body in a landscape. She employs mirror surfaces as a reference to the permeability of personal space. She is interested in the reflection of how a being is placed with regard to their surroundings, their way of perception and movement through an environment. Wordless encounters, the presence of another, the image of their influence. Even a textile surface can become an element of resonance or expression. When hung freely or laid on the ground, it gives the impression of a void, of loneliness, but also of transient human presence. Its spatial and luminous conditions can be a statement of the overlapping past and present. An image can be a means of expression: Constellations of points based on the compositional structures of Mondrian’s paintings. Linear drawings as accounts of systemic constellations. The creative output also involves set phrases, text fragments, records of psychological immersions and moments of concentration.
An important line of the artist’s work are pencil drawings on primed canvas: The seemingly monotone structures made of repetitive linear motifs, filling or delimiting space. The subtle irregularity of each stroke endows the paintings as a whole with particular liveliness. “Deciding what type of repetition I should choose is not easy. Whether the line will be a straight, wavy, sharp or a soft one. If it will form circles, squares, nets. That decision is never just a formal one. It is always related to where I can find myself in my life at that very moment, both in terms of my thoughts and emotions. It is like if I had to find a shape first that will resonate with me in a given period. Something that corresponds to my inner rhythm,” the artist explains the essence of these works. The created structure is a field at the same time. It defines the relationship to the void, the search of balance between discipline and authenticity. The free flowing of the lines or silent tension of their crossings bring us the frequency of a lived space and time continuum.
These drawings are one of the forms of making visible a phenomenon co-creating a perceived live space. Whether these are the electromagnetic frequencies of the Earth’s surface, the frequencies of brain activity generated by the electric impulses of neurons, sound frequencies or the arrangement of atomic particles in crystalline grids, we can find systems consisting of repetitive elements forming specific meaningful structures. Therefore, we can perceive the drawings also as specific constellations of an individual being which are repeatedly made visible in relation to a transpersonal creative principle.
